Removal & Installation

Disconnect door lock actuator connector and locking links. Take away door lock actuator screws and remove door lock actuator from bottom of door. To put in, reverse elimination procedure.

Removing & Set up (Amigo & Rodeo Rear Hatch)

Disconnect unfavorable battery cable. Remove tailgate trim cover and waterproof shield. Take away screws attaching hatch lock to prime of tailgate. Disconnect lock link from hatch lock. Disconnect lock hyperlinks from key cylinder and take away spring clip attaching lock cylinder meeting to door. Disconnect actuator wiring connector. Remove bolts attaching actuator to within door. To install, reverse removal procedure.

NOTE:

On Hombre, door lock actuator is located on lock assembly.

  • Disconnect unfavorable battery cable. Take away screw cover at bottom door pull handle. Remove screws attaching door pull handle and single plastic screw behind inside door handle. Use Trim Pad Remover (J38778) to disengage clips attaching door panel clips to door panel. Pull door panel upward to disengage high of panel from door.
  • Take away water deflector from door. Remove four lock rods from door lock assembly. See Fig. 1 . Disconnect door lock actuator electrical connector from door lock assembly. Remove screws retaining door lock meeting to door.
  • Remove screws attaching door lock actuator to door lock meeting if applicable. To install, reverse elimination procedure.

Removal & Set up (Trooper Rear Doorways)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove rear door trim panel. Observe routing of wiring harnesses and take away waterproof shield. Remove locking hyperlinks and electrical connector from actuator. To take away door lock meeting, remove locking links and attaching screws. To put in, reverse removal procedure.

Take away Roof Rack Leg Covers(a) Remove the rear right roof rack leg cover.(Fig 1-1)(b) Repeat the elimination for the rear left side. This noise may be brought on by the jounce bumper rubbing against the strut rod, or the mud boot rubbing against the strut mount cup.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Raise the vehicle as described in Workshop Manual, Section a hundred-02.
Reach through the spring and pull the strut dust cover and jounce bumper assembly straight down, out of the strut bearing mount.
Apply Motorcraft Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound: (Figure 1)

To the complete length of the chromed strut rod above the jounce bumper and 360° across the rod.
To the highest and sides of the uppermost part of the dust boot.

Slide the mud cowl and jounce bumper meeting upward into its authentic location on the strut.
Repeat the procedure on the opposite side of the vehicle.
Decrease the vehicle.
